JAM MUSIC LAB Conservatory offers diploma studies in music and performing arts in all artistic and educational disciplines. The courses that are offered are divided into two sections focusing on jazz and popular music; and classical music and performing arts.
Enrolled students can receive study allowance and study grants according to the Austrian Student Support Act.
All conservatory students are eligible for the JAM Card for Higher Music Education. With this they can avail of cost-reduced follow-up studies at the JAM MUSIC LAB Private University: 25% off all study programs in the field of Bachelor's and Master's programs, subject to entrance examinations.
In recent years, JAM MUSIC LAB Conservatory has developed into a vibrant place for studying music. At our location in Gasometer Music City we offer a wide range of courses, from the first steps right up to the highest level of education.
In February 2017 we were met with the momentous occasion of JAM MUSIC LAB being accredited as Private University for Jazz and Popular Music. Parallel to it’s operations as a university, JAM MUSIC LAB also functions as a conservatory with diploma studies, which also now extends to the fields of classical music and performing arts. A strong sense of interdisciplinary interaction and awareness plays a central role in JAM MUSIC LAB’s application of its modern artistic and pedagogical training programs. With the newly created second department, New Viennese School of Music, JAM MUSIC LAB aims to create a top-class program in the field of classical music and in cross-genre music theatre education (musical dance, performance).
With the offered range of courses, we make it possible to continually pursue project-based, practice-oriented studies, with continued reflection being of central importance throughout the learning experience.
Cooperations in both national and international contexts ensure that the courses provide a solid orientation in relevant occupational fields of artistic and pedagogical practice, particularly in music and creative processes (composition, production, directing, dramaturgy, choreography etc.).
We’ve designed our curricula in such a way as to provide a framework for academic and personal freedom, while at the same time providing students at JAM MUSIC LAB Conservatory the necessary scope for developing individualism and cultural diversity. Quality assurance measures are now overseen by JAM MUSIC LAB Private University, thus signalling a continued assurance in adhering to the highest possible quality in teaching the diploma courses. Essentially we wish to make a valuable contribution to the education of future generations of music creators, music teachers and representatives working in the performing arts.
